The United Nations General Assembly declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests to raise awareness of sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests.
You can read about recent research by Kew’s scientists into forests and their conservation in the latest issue of Kew Scientist, and see how this work is undertaken within the seven strategies of Kew’s new Breathing Planet Programme.
Other themes in the issue are developments in herbarium science and research on flowers and pollination.
