About us

Holding slides pulled out from a drawer

Kew’s Micromorphology team and visitors cover a broad range of specialist knowledge about plant microstructure. Kew researchers examine the flowers, leaves, pollen and wood of many different plants to study their evolution and interaction with the environment. These studies also help us to solve practical challenges in everyday problems, such as identifying commercial timbers and poisonous plants.
