After much consideration we have selected our favourite photographs from each of Kew's official Flickr groups and created galleries to showcase them. You can browse our 'Capturing Colour' Photo Challenge galleries here:
Below are the featured photos from February's 'Capturing Colour' Photo Challenge. If you want to get involved in this month's challenge, the new theme is 'Signs of Spring'.

We chose to feature this photo because it shows off beautifully the vibrant colours and unique textures found in flowering plants. The striking orange of the pollen set against the pure white petals of this plant is just stunning. See this photo on Flickr.

The fascinating colour palette and unusual perspective of this photo provides many points of interest for the viewer. The subtle shades of pink and colour-wash background provide a beautiful setting to this stunning flower. The combination of photographic and painterly forms create a unique feel too. The unusual colours displayed in this photograph of a caterpillar doing a balancing act captured our imagination. This micro view of nature 'in action' enables the viewer to take a closer look at the activity taking place in the world of plants and insects. See this photo on Flickr.
'ROSE SAWFLY CATERPILLAR Arge ochropus' by ERIK THE CAT (bottom)
We selected this photo because the palette of colours and textures captured are so pleasing to the eye. The thread of purple tints picked up in the background, the berries, and the central figure of the bird, pull the subject and its environment together beautifully. The soft focus of the background further accentuates the smooth feathers of the bird and the wrinkly texture of the berries. See this photo on Flickr.
