This November Kew announced an Autumn Photo Challenge on Flickr. We received lots of interest from our network of budding photographers and many of them shared their photos of Autumn with us.

After much consideration we selected our favourite photographs from each of Kew's official Flickr Groups and created Galleries to showcase them. You can browse our Galleries here:

Below are the 'Featured Photos' for November's Autumn Colour Photo Challenge. If you want to get involved in Kew's Photo Challenge in December, the new theme is 'Winter Up Close'.

We chose this photograph because it shows off the amazing structure and colours that you can find in Autumn leaves. The hole in the centre of the image provides a curious point of interest and hints towards an insect that has just left the scene. See this photo on Flickr.

We chose this photograph because it shows the sheer scale of Autumn colour in woodland areas at Kew Gardens. It also depicts the awe inspiring effect that tall trees can have on our younger visitors. See this photo on Flickr.

We chose this photograph because it shows off the crucial relationship between plants and birds. It also presents many subtle shades of yellow that you find in plants throughout Autumn time.  See this photo on Flickr.

We chose this photograph because it shows the vibrant colour and delicate nature of leaves in the Autumn time. It also suggests the approach of Winter through a light sprinkling of frost. See this photo on Flickr.

Thanks for the feature on my photo. When I took the shot it summed up how I feel about Kew. When I first came to the Gardens it was all about the flowers, plants, trees and greenhouses. When I stopped and looked closer I could see much more detail and beauty. I also realised that animal life and insects play their part in what makes Kew what it is.
What I also tried to show was colour through the hole- that no matter what amazingly colourful thing you see, there's always something it's equal just beyond it.
