Cross-section of Ficus villosa, the shaggy fig
1 May to 30 November 2009
Visitors to Wakehurst Place, can enjoy more of artist Rob Kesseler’s work in the Orange Room at The Wellcome Trust Millennium Building, home to the Millennium Seed Bank.
Dispersal is an exhibition of unusual, hyper-coloured imagery developed from highly magnified electron micrographs of plant structures including pollens, seeds, wood and leaves. This extraordinary body of work, revealing the plant world at microscopic level, has been developed in collaboration with the Seed Bank's seed morphologist, Dr Wolfgang Stuppy.
The result is a unique exhibition full of striking and beautiful photographs which enable the audience to see plants from a completely different perspective.
