The Mediterranean has an intriguing history, full of myth and legend; it is where many of our crops originated and where many are still grown today; it is a place of fascinating wildlife and plant-life, with many species found nowhere else. Our food, lifestyle and language have all been influenced by this vibrant region.
And Europe is home to just one of five Mediterranean regions worldwide, covering 2% of the earth's land surface, yet holding 20% of its plant life.
