Description: |
Long thin beetles, usually brightly coloured (named because the colours resemble military uniforms). The bright colours are a warning to potential predators that they taste unpleasant. They are predatory, and often lie in wait on flowers for insects to visit. Larvae are also predatory, hunting on the soil or under bark for soft-bodied insects and other invertebrate's eggs. |
