Decaying wood and other dead plant matter. Also forms a relationship with living tree roots, called a 'mycorrhiza'.

Description:

The classic 'toadstool' with a red cap with white spots. It often grows near birch trees. It lives on the tree's roots, but doesn't harm the tree. Instead, it helps it to find nutrients in the soil.
