Description: |
Moorhens are smaller than coots and have a black body with a white stripe along the side, and a stubby tail that is white below. The beak is red with a pointed yellow tip.The legs and feet are a greenish yellow and the feet are not webbed, but have very long toes - good for supporting the bird's weight when walking over water weed. It makes a loud "kurr'uk" call. |
