Description: |
A rounded, black bird, larger than the moorhen. It has a large white shield on its face. Its feet are not webbed, but instead have flaps of skin that act like paddles to help the bird swim. It makes a loud, metallic "kut" sound. Coots are noisy and quarrelsome. |
