Description:

The leaves of this large tree are divided into 9 to 13 leaflets along a central leaf stalk. The wind-pollinated flowers appear before the leaves and are just purplish clusters of stigmas or stamens, no petals. The seeds are called 'keys'. Each has a twisted 'propellor' wing that helps it disperse away from the parent tree.
