Description: |
Ladybirds are small, rounded beetles, usually brightly coloured and spotted. The seven-spot ladybird (Coccinella 7-punctata) is one of the commonest species. Both adults and larvae are predators on aphids. One ladybird can eat more than 5000 aphids in its year of life. Ladybirds lay bright yellow eggs that hatch into very active larvae. A ladybird's bright colours are a warning that it tastes nasty. |
