Tour details

Our enthusiastic guides are all volunteers with a wide knowledge and love of the Gardens. These free tours are designed for adult visitors.

Dates: Three free tours are on offer everyday throughout the year (except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, when the Gardens are closed).

Location: Tours start from the Guides’ Desk in Victoria Plaza.

Duration: Tours last approximately 1 hour.

Times: Tours begin at 11am, 12 noon and 1.30pm.

Booking: You will need to register with the guide approximately 15 minutes before the tour departs. Groups of more than 5 people must pre-book.

Tour size: Guides can take up to 15 people on a first-come, first-served basis.

Introduction to the Gardens

This tour leaves at 11am and 1.30pm. Each guide presents his or her own tour, taking in the highlights of the season, exploring the exotic plants in the glasshouses and explaining the history and work of Kew.

Themed Tour

This tour leaves at midday. Our guides offer a variety of fascinating themed tours.

Every summer (May – September) Kew hosts a special Summer Festival and guides offer themed tours linked to the festival.

At other times of the year, our guides offer seasonal tours such as Autumn Colour, Winter Evergreens and Spring Buds.
