The African Regional Expert Course in Plant Conservation Strategies, held in 2004 at Makerere University, Uganda, brought together conservationists from over 16 different African countries to share experiences of developing conservation activities to meet the targets of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC).

The 2006 Caribbean Regional GSPC Workshop in Montserrat focused on increasing understanding of the GSPC and establishing a network to implement it, both nationally and regionally. Delegates from 10 Caribbean states contributed to discussions on the challenges and opportunities arising from GSPC targets and country priorities for biodiversity conservation.
