Work Experience at Kew and Wakehurst

Work experience placements for 14 -16 year olds (Key Stage 4 and AS/A2 level)

Kew Gardens, South West London

In 2012 Kew is offering 27 horticultural work experience placements to students from Richmond, Hounslow and Kingston borough schools only. Students must demonstrate in their application an interest in and aptitude for pursuing a career in horticulture. All placements will be for 2 weeks and must take place from March to October 2012.

How to apply

Kew’s placements are administered via the Richmond, Hounslow and Kingston Education Business Partnerships. Only children who attend schools in these three boroughs are entitled to apply. If you attend a school outside Richmond, Hounslow or Kingston you cannot apply. Enquiries should be made direct to these Partnerships via your school.

Wakehurst Place Gardens, West Sussex, and the Millennium Seed Bank

In 2012 Wakehurst Place is offering 6 one-week placements for students interested in a career in science. The placements will take place in the laboratories of the Millennium Seed Bank.

Wakehurst Place is also offering a small number of horticultural placements for students who demonstrate an interest in or an aptitude for a career in horticulture. Students will work in the Nursery and glasshouses linked to the Seed Bank. Generally these are also one-week placements.

Priority will be given to the local Sussex schools Warden Park, Chailey and Oathall.
