Horticultural Internship Programme
A wonderful way to gain three months of unpaid practical work experience at one of the world's leading botanic gardens.
April - June 2011 Horticultural Interns
The three month, unpaid, practically-based horticultural internship at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is offered to any applicants possessing some previous experience of working with plants, and who are eligible to work in the UK for the duration of the programme. The horticultural internships format will consist of five days practical work experience as part of a working team in Kew Gardens. Interns are welcome to use facilities at Kew such as the Main Library or the Herbarium outside of work-placement time to aid private study.
No lectures or formal training in horticulture is given so some previous horticultural experience is essential. The practical work is often routine maintenance but you will develop and further your personal interest and knowledge of plants and horticulture. This is achieved by working alongside our highly-trained staff within the living collections, by completing a personal study project, and by participating in the organised plant identification sessions.
