Postdoc opportunities

Although the EST HOTSPOTS will not fund any postdoc fellowship, the HOTSPOTS consortium encourages the application of Advanced Researchers (postdocs) to the Individual-Driven Marie Curie Actions in order to conduct research and training activities closely linked with our project. There are three Marie Actions relevant to these international postdoc opportunities: Intra-European (IEF), Incoming (IIF) and Outgoing International (OIF) fellowships.

There are currently several calls open, and these can be found on the CORDIS website. These fellowships must be applied to jointly by a postdoc/host pairing coordinated by the host (next deadlines are in January 2006 for a start date later that year).

If you are interested in applying to any of these fellowships in collaboration with HOTSPOTS, please proceed as follows:

  1. Download the Handbooks (IEF, IIF and IOF following the links on CORDIS) and check your eligibility in terms of both you status as an Advanced Researcher and the countries you can be hosted in given the trans-national requirements of the Marie Curie Actions.

  2. Download the HOTSPOTS application and choose the host you would like to be based in. You must make sure that your eligibility status is compatible with the hiring host you are interested in.

  3. Send an expression of interest to hotspots@kew.org. This should be a single MS Word doc or pdf document with a letter of motivation (1 A4 max; including a short description of your eligibility status, your choice of host and the research topic you would like to develop) and a short CV (1 A4 maximum, including list of publications). The HOSTSPOTS consortium will sift these files and be in touch with you as soon as possible. Thank you for your interest.

Other useful documents on Marie Curie Actions can be found on the EUROPA website.
