Along Syon Vista
Syon Vista is a major feature in the Nesfield/Burton landscape.
This part of the Gardens was originally part of Richmond Gardens,
but its character is dominated by the 1845 and later design of Nesfield
and the Hookers.
The area is dominated by the Vista and the Lake, which was built
later by extending gravel pits. The spoil from the lake, incidentally,
became the mound on which the Temperate House stands.
The view along the Vista to Syon House across the Thames make this
possibly one of the the most visited areas at Kew. Syon Vista, along
with Cedar Vista and Pagoda Vista, make a popular triangular walk
through the Gardens, taking in a mixture of tree collections and
the Lake.
