Agnew, John David (P. O. Box 1326, Toowong, Brisbane 4066, Australia) is currently investigating seedlings and mature plants of Paphiopedilum that show premature leaf senescence and flower only rarely. He has isolated endophytic bacteria from the vascular cells of these plants and cultured them on nutrient agar. Further work awaits funding. He is also studying polyploidy in Paphiopedilum and needs assistance with chromosome counts.
