AGUILAR is working on: 1) handbook of the legumes in the Philippines, 2) legumes and grasses of Mt. Makiling, Philippines, and 3) nomenclature of Philippine legumes. She needs seeds of leguminous tree species, and offers herbarium specimens of legumes from open grazing lands.
ALBUQUERQUE is continuing his studies on the medicinal legumes of the Amazon, especially Cassia occidentalis, C. tora, Machaerium lunatum, and Zornia diphylla. He needs information on medicinal legumes, and offers the same for Amazonian legumes.
ALONSO-REYES is conducting a survey of native Rhizobium strains to determine which are capable of effective nitrogen fixation in phosphorus deficient soils. His overall goals are the characterization and sustainable use of soil biodiversity.
AMELIA GARCIA, with HOC and PALACIOS, is working on the floral biology of Prosopis calde nia and P. humilis.
ANCHA is analyzing yield variation in soybean [Glycine max] and azuki bean [Vigna angularis] genotypes in cool temperate regions of Hokkaido using GIS and GPS and the heat tolerance of food legumes.
Arendaño, J., see ARONSON.
ARONSON, in collaboration with C. Ovalle, L. Longeri, A. Herrera, and J. Arendaño, has an article, entitled "N2-fixation, nodule efficiency and biomass accumulation after two years in three Chilean legume trees and Tagasaste (Chamaecytisus proliferus subsp. plamensis)," in Plant and Soil for 1996, volume 179, part 1. He needs seeds of legume fodder shrubs from the Mediterranean basin and adjacent semiarid and arid regions, and offers seeds of South American and African legume trees, especially Acacia, and Mediterranean basin shrubs and annuals.
BRETELER is continuing his work on generic delimitations in the Detarieae, including Amherstieae, s.s, and Macrolobieae. He needs herbarium specimens of Neotropical Detarieae and Macrolobieae, and offers specimens collected in tropical Africa from a variety of families and especially from the above mentioned tribes.
BRIZUELA is working on Prosopis for "Proflora Argentina."
CAJANO, New Reader, is working on a handbook of the legumes in the Philippines and the legumes and grasses of Mt. Makiling, Philippines. She needs seed of leguminous tree species, and offers herbarium specimens of legumes of open grazing lands.
COWAN is preparing treatments of 24 genera of miscellaneous papilionate legumes for the Flora of Australia.
DAS, New Reader, is working on the legumes of Bihar, India, for his Ph.D. dissertation at the University of Calcutta.
ESPINOSA-HERNANDEZ is continuing to work on legumes, especially Lupinus arboreus, Medicago sativa, Stylosanthes hamata, and Trifolium subterraneum.
GRIMES is working on the developmental morphology of inflorescences in tribes Acacieae and Ingeae.

KITE is working on the chemotaxonomy of Sophoreae and Swartzieae.
KUMAR, Sudershan, is Regional Coordinator for the ILDIS South Asia Project. They are developing a legume database for eight countries, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. They have conducted two international workshops as part of the project, the first 7-13 March 1994 at the National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, India, and the second 26 April-3 May 1995 at the National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, India and Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal.

MOREIRA is sequencing 16S rDNA gene fragment in rhizobia isolated from forest legume species.
ORLIDO, New Reader, is working on a handbook of the legumes in the Philippines. She needs seeds of leguminous tree species, and offers herbarium specimens of legumes from open grazing lands.
ORTIZ is doing morphological and biochemical characterization of tropical forage legumes. She needs taxonomic identifications of Crotalaria, Eriosema, and Rhynchosia from South America, and offers duplicate herbarium specimens of tropical forage legumes.

A HREF="bbo_z596.html#Pizarro, Esteban A.">PIZARRO is collecting and doing agronomic evaluations of Arachis glabrata and Cratylia. He needs literature and germplasm of Cratylia, and offers literature and germplasm of Arachis, Calopogonium, Centrosema acutifolium, C. brasilianum, and C. tetragonolobum.
PLANCHUELO is conducting multidisciplinary studies of cultivated and wild legume species combining taxonomic evaluation of type materials, seed morphology, plant anatomy, chemotaxonomy, and geographic distribution of species, especially of Arachis hypogaea, Crotalaria, and Lupinus. She is also developing a new approach to studying seed coat morphology in relation to water uptake during imbibition using different legume species.
SAWKINS is applying GIS in the modeling of species distributions or species in the genera Medicago and Stylosanthes. He needs distributional data sets for Medicago and Stylosanthes, especially Brazilian Stylosanthes species, and offers help with GIS and data relating to Medicago and Stylosanthes.
SIMPSON, Charles E., is working to enhance Arachis germplasm to improve peanut (A. hypogaea) cultivars.
SOKOLOFF has finished studies of generic limits in Anthyllis and related genera and of the infrageneric taxa of Anthyllis, and has started working on the taxonomy of several other genera of Loteae. He needs seeds, fruits, and herbarium specimens of Loteae, especially Antopetita, Anthyllis agaea, A. henoniana ssp. valentina, A. plumosa, Lyauteya ahmedii (= Cytisopsis), Cytisopsis pseudocytisus ssp. reeseana, and C. leiocalycina, and literature on the taxonomy, morphology, and phytogeography of Loteae. He offers his publications and herbarium specimens of vascular plants from the Murmansk region and Karelia, Russia, and of Russian Anthyllis.
VIDAL is doing editorial work on volume 29 of the Flore du Cambodge, du Laos, et du Vietnam, including Dalbergieae and Millettieae, which should be published at the end of 1996.
Volkaert, Hugo, is working on the conservation of forest trees in northern Thailand. The species of Castanopsis and Dalbergia were selected as model systems for the project. He wants to learn of any research being done on their biodiversity, conservation, vegetative propagation, or ecology anywhere in the world.
