Description
Trees; leaves simple or palmately compound, petioles and petiolules with conspicuously swollen articulation; inflorescence terminal and/or axillary, a lax panicle of distant, abbreviated cymes; calyx campanulate, 5-lobed; corolla 5-lobed, 2-lipped; stamens 4 (rarely 5), didynamous, inserted towards base of tube, slightly exserted; ovary 4-locular, locules 1-ovulate; fruit a non-dehiscent capsular fruit with a single seed (by abortion of the other 3 ovules). About 14 species, SE Asia and Malaysia.
