Shirley Sherwood Gallery at KewOpened Spring 2008
The Shirley Sherwood Gallery at Kew Gardens is the first public gallery in the world dedicated to botanical art. Opened in Spring 2008, it exhibits precious works of art, many of which have never before been on public display. Kew holds one of the world’s greatest collections of botanical art, totalling over 200,000 items. It includes illustrations of species already lost to mankind and for which the artwork may be the only surviving record. These historically rich illustrations are more than great works of art; they are scientific tools highly valued by taxonomists, horticulturalists, and researchers alike. Extras for groups:• Book a ‘Plant Explorers’ guided tour of the Gardens and learn more about the intrepid adventurers who bought back the first botanical specimens to Kew over 200 years ago. Group PricesThese are prices for entry to Kew Gardens, including entry to the Shirley Sherwood Gallery.
