There will also be a collection of his other works on view.
The finished pieces will go on permanent display at Kew in
autumn around a new pond currently under construction.
During his week at Kew he will create giant wooden models
of various creatures including a six foot Emperor dragonfly,
a frog and a crested newt.
Paul carves his striking sculptures from a range of different
woods using local timber from sustainable sources. He begins
with a chainsaw to cut out the rough shape before progressing
through a range of power and hand tools to end up with a fine,
smooth chiselled finish. Paul's creations can
already be seen at Kew's invertebrate loggery where he carved
two giant stag beetles last year, and two badger sculptures
in the human-size badger sett.
