John Evans …The Lady of the Woods

John Evans

“This design is based around one plant – the Silver Birch – an ancient UK native and pioneer plant. In Celtic mythology it represents the emergence of spring. In bio-diversity terms this single species hosts over 230 insects which in turn attract wildlife. The presence of the charcoal kiln shows how we can use woodlands like these sustainably.

My favourite part of the design is the closely planted birches of different sizes although in hindsight I would have used even more trees to give more of a feeling of dense woodland. "
