Fumiko Ishizuna …On Reflection

Fumiko Ishizuna

“This is a contemporary interpretation of a ditch in the Somerset Levels, where reclaimed land is used for agriculture and also provides a haven for wildlife. Metal strips represent grass and magnify the beautiful movement and sunlight in this small space. A wire nest of the Reed Warbler indicates the interaction between plants and animals. All the plants are UK natives.

My favourite parts of the garden are the Reed Warbler nest made of wire and the 6mm thick metal strips designed to sway in the wind.

I have learnt how difficult it is to create the garden that I imagined by explaining things only with drawing and words. Good communication is essential."
