Aeranthes grandiflora was one of the first Madagascan
orchids to reach Europe. John Forbes discovered it growing as an
epiphyte on evergreen forest trees on Mount Ambré in the
north-east of the island. The semi-translucent flowers are carried
on long wiry inflorescence stalks.
