As Guatemala’s national flower, this pure white orchid is
very highly prized. At one time, international trade in this plant
was prohibited as a means of conserving it in the wild. The illustration
clearly demonstrates John Day’s high degree of technical skills
in painting white flowers. It is the earliest known illustration
of this highly prized orchid.
