One of the first successful crosses between a multi-flowered and
a single-flowered Paphiopedilum, this hybrid was first
flowered in 1878. Its parents are Paphiopedilum laevigatum
[=P. philippinense] from the Philippines and the Malayan
Paphiopedilum barbatum. The hybrid is still in cultivation
today.
