Enjoy traditional dance near Queen Charlotte's cottage, and demonstrations of traditional woodland activities running throughout the day. There is also the opportunity to tour Kew's conservation area, an area usually not open to the public.

Tours of the conservation area

Tours of this area of natural British woodland, not normally open to the public, gives you a sense of what Kew would have looked like before it turned into Royal Gardens.

Tours start at 11.30am, 12pm, 2.30pm & 3pm , and last 1 hour. Tours are free but are limited to 15 people, please reserve your place with the guide 15 minutes before the tour starts. Tours start at the information booth near Queen Charlotte's cottage.

Public woodcarving workshops, with Clinton and Cheryl
Workshops start 10.50am, 1.50pm, 3.20pm

Instruction and the chance to practice, simple woodcarving techniques. Workshops last one hour, and are not suitable for children under 12. Parents must accompany all workshop participants up to and including seventeen years of age. 

Queen Charlotte's Cottage

At the centre of the festival is this beautiful cottage hidden in a quiet corner of Kew Gardens. Visit this 18th century summer house built by Queen Charlotte just for royal picnics. Kew Palace staff will reveal it's history. Open 10.30am to 4.30pm.
