Bulbs
At this time of year blue, white and mauve crocuses frame Kew's historic features. Thousands of glorious glowing daffodils line the paths, deep purple Fritillarias and
a vibrant blue sea of Chionodoxa. Two million purple and white
crocuses (Crocus vernus) create the Crocus Carpet, while drifts
of daffodils line the Broad Walk and Chionodoxa create a unbelievably
vibrant sea of blue.
Spring is also the most colourful time in Kew's newest glasshouse, the award-winning Davies Alpine House. This glasshouse hosts a display of alpine flowers and some of the more unusual bulbs in Kew's collection - the wild ancestors of the daffodils, tulips and crocus seen elsewhere in the Gardens.
