'The Discovery' Bus

Discovery Bus Unfortunately guided tours on the Discovery Bus are temporarily suspended whilst we recruit a Discovery Bus Driver/Co-ordinator. We anticipate the service resuming on 1 September 2008 and apologise for any disappointment caused. Should you wish to register your interest in a tour after this date, please leave your details on the number below.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew offers a mobility service to enable groups of people with special needs to enjoy the gardens.

'The Discovery' bus travels around the gardens, taking in all the major sights and vistas including the remote wooded areas.

When the opportunity arises, the vehicle stops, giving passengers time to enjoy the surroundings from the comfort and safety of the bus.

'The Discovery' provides excellent visibility and year-round comfort and protection from the elements.

It seats 12 people with additional space for two permanent wheelchair users.

The bus incorporates special features, including kneeling to the side giving easy access through automatic doors controlled by the driver.

'The Discovery' tour is at 11.00am and 2.00pm 7 days a week, although these times, as with the route, may be varied occasionally. The tour starts and finishes at the Main Gate, taking a clockwise route which lasts an hour.

This service includes the provision of one of our experienced drivers. We encourage as many of your carers to be in the group as necessary, minimum 2 carers per group. Pre-booking is essential. Bookings can be made up to five weeks ahead.
