School of Horticulture - Kew Diploma
Travel ScholarshipsTravel scholarships provide the unique opportunity for Kew students to travel to a country of their choice in order to work in the field with a diverse range of flora and people. As a result Kew students are encouraged to create new opportunities and global, working partnerships and to contribute this information to RBG Kew’s vast wealth of baseline plant data. Amongst many others in recent years, travel scholarships have included: A Study of Botanic Gardens, Markets and Nurseries in India, Conservation of Flagship Species in the British Virgin Islands, Composting and Green Waste Management in the USA, Conservation of Medicinal Plants in Malawi, Orchids and Regional Flora of Venezuela, Alpine Plants of Sechuan and Yunnen, Conserving the Kalahari, Endemic Island Flora of Madagascar, Medicinal Plants of Egypt, Bamboo in China, The Sustainable Use of Sandalwood in India, and, Nepenthes in Borneo. During the first year Students are invited to produce a travel scholarship proposal. If successful the student will travel during the second year of the course. During the final year the student must recount the trip during a Kew Mutual Lecture.
