12th meeting - updated (document 2)

Information on the 12th EBHL meeting, updated on 29 April 2005

1. We now have confirmation of the time and date of the EBHL Workshop at IBC, which will definitely be on Fri 22 July from 0900-1145. The Symposium will follow from 1330-1600.

However, the room only holds 50 people whereas 140 have so far registered! We will attempt to re-register them, and hopefully lose those who weren't really serious... If we are still oversubscribed, we may have another 'sitting' on Thurs, for those who are attending for the whole week. This remains to be seen.

2. For EBHL and CBHL members, however, you can now be sure of a whole day programme on Fri 22 July, and one-day registration will be available on the day at the Registration desk only for Euro 200 (developed countries), 150 (developing countries), 80 (students). So you will need to 'pay at the door' if you have not registered for the whole Congress. These rates are now definitely confirmed.

3. In order to arrange a social/visits programme for Fri evening and Sat we will need to know how many EBHL/CBHL members are actually planning to attend, so that we know numbers and who we are looking for on the day, amongst the hundreds/thousands of Congress delegates! So we will have an EBHL registration form as we have for normal meetings, which I will circulate soon and we'll add to the EBHL web site.

4. Hotel booking via the IBC website is supposed to close on 30 April. However, you can still book direct with individual hotels and it may in fact be cheaper - it's worth doing a bit of searching on the internet! You might like to consider the Suitehotel Vienna Centre, which is part of the Accor chain; it's a modern and reasonably priced hotel, conveniently located next to an underground station half way between the city centre and congress centre. It's also not on the IBC list so still has room!

5. All members who offered to present a paper should have had an e-mail from IBC. I know of at least one who has not: if anyone else is still waiting to hear, please let me know. The first e-mail does not specify whether you are asked to give an oral presentation or a poster; the second one, which does, hasn't gone out yet so far as I know. In general, if you are not asked to give an oral presentation in the Symposium, we will invite you to speak in the Workshop, if you wish, and will be in touch with you individually about that. The programme for the Workshop is not yet worked out, so watch this space!

6. A reminder again that presenters MUST register and pay by 31 May or they will be dropped from the programme, and that reduced-rate registration ends on 30 April.

More information will posted when it is known.
