Chimonobambusa gracilis

HABIT Perennial. Rhizomes elongated; leptomorph. Culms erect; 60–80 cm long; 3–5 mm diam.; woody; without nodal roots. Culm-internodes quadrangular; hollow. Culm-nodes swollen. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement three; with subequal branches. Culm-sheaths yellow and purple; obscurely mottled with last colour. Leaves cauline; 3–4 per branch. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate; 8 cm long; 10 mm wide.

INFLORESCENCE Flowering specimens unknown.

DISTRIBUTION Asia-temperate: China.
