Fargesia subflexuosa

HABIT Perennial; caespitose. Rhizomes short; pachymorph. Culms erect; 300–600 cm long; 15–30 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; with small lumen; striate; distally mealy and pubescent. Culm-nodes swollen. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement three; thinner than stem. Culm-sheaths deciduous; 15–33 cm long; 3–4 times as long as wide; coriaceous; yellow; hispid; with appressed hairs; with yellow hairs; without auricles; glabrous on shoulders. Culm-sheath ligule 1–2 mm high. Culm-sheath blade triangular; narrower than sheath; deciduous; reflexed; 1–9 cm long; 2.5–6 mm wide. Leaves 3–5 per branch. Leaf-sheaths 5–6.6 cm long. Leaf-sheath oral hairs setose; erect; 1.5–3 mm long; dark. Leaf-sheath auricles absent. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 1 mm long. Collar with external ligule. Leaf-blade base cuneate; with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath; petiole 0.2–0.4 cm long. Leaf-blades lanceolate; 12–16 cm long; 20–30 mm wide; chartaceous. Leaf-blade venation with 8–10 secondary veins; with distinct cross veins. Leaf-blade surface glabrous. Leaf-blade margins scabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.
