Ligule a fringe of hairs (9), or absent (2). Leaf-blades linear (4), or lanceolate (9), or oblong (1); firm (9), or flaccid (1). Leaf-blade midrib indistinct (1/1).

INFLORESCENCE Inflorescence a panicle; terminal (9), or terminal and axillary (1).

Panicle open (8), or contracted (2).

Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels filiform (1/6), or linear (1/6), or oblong (4/6).

FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets (1), or 2 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets elliptic (2), or oblong (6), or ovate (4); laterally compressed; 1–2.041–3.6 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Rhachilla internodes definite. Floret callus glabrous (1/1).

GLUMES Glumes persistent; shorter than spikelet; thinner than fertile lemma (9), or similar to fertile lemma in texture (1); parallel to lemmas (8), or gaping (2). Lower glume elliptic (3), or ovate (6), or orbicular (3); 0.5–0.781–1 length of upper glume; membranous; without keels; 0 -veined (1/8), or 1 -veined (5/8), or 2 -veined (4/8), or 3 -veined (6/8), or 4–5 -veined (1/8). Lower glume lateral veins absent (2), or distinct (8). Lower glume surface without pits; glabrous (9), or pubescent (1). Lower glume apex truncate (1/9), or obtuse (7/9), or acute (1/9). Upper glume elliptic (4), or ovate (4), or orbicular (3); 0.4–0.6–0.7 length of adjacent fertile lemma; membranous; with undifferentiated margins (9), or hyaline margins (1); without keels; 1–2 -veined (1/8), or 3 -veined (2/8), or 4 -veined (1/8), or 5 -veined (6/8), or 6–7 -veined (1/8). Upper glume surface glabrous (9), or pubescent (1). Upper glume apex obtuse (8/9), or acute (1/9).

FLORETS Fertile florets bisexual (5), or female (5). Fertile lemma elliptic (7), or ovate (5); hyaline (1), or membranous (7), or chartaceous (2); without keel; wingless; 0 -veined (5/7), or 1–2 -veined (2/7), or 3 -veined (4/7), or 4–5 -veined (2/7). Lemma lateral veins obscure (2/2). Lemma surface unwrinkled; without grooves; glabrous (4), or pubescent (6). Lemma margins eciliate (8), or ciliolate (1), or ciliate (1). Lemma apex obtuse (3/9), or acute (6/9). Palea 0.75–0.9722–1 length of lemma; hyaline (1), or membranous (9); 2 -veined (6/6). Palea keels smooth (9), or scaberulous (1); eciliate (9), or ciliolate (1). Palea surface glabrous (6), or puberulous (1), or pubescent (3).
