Biodiversity Restoration Project in Mauritius

The CPDU and Temperate Nursery are working with the Mauritius Wildlife Foundation and Mauritian government on plant conservation and habitat restoration activities. The work is undertaken as part of a GEF funded habitat restoration project for Mauritius and Rodrigues. This project involves working with some of the world's rarest plant species, for instance Ramosmania rodriguesiana, reduced to one plant in the wild, and unique habitats such as the palm woodlands of Round Island. Kew personnel have worked with MWF on conservation and horticultural training, vegetation survey and the design and implementation of restoration plans.
