Woodland at Wakehurst
The Pinetum
The Pinetum was ravaged by the Great Storm of 1987, and 80% of the trees were destroyed. But given the Pinetum’s importance to the gardens and the economic and evolutionary significance of the trees as a plant group, the Pinetum was re-established. Species include Korean Fir Abies koreana, Himalyan Fir Abies spectabilis, and Japanese Cedar Cryptomeria japonica.
