Chionodoxa

Eranthis hyemalis

‘Winter aconite’

Eranthis hyemalis, commonly known as winter aconite, is one of the first flowers to appear in early spring, occasionally through a cover of snow. A member of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae), winter aconite grows to a height of 10-15cm. When it is planted in large numbers under shrubs and trees its bright yellow flowers create a wonderful golden carpet.

250,000 are planted on Holly Walk.
