Drawer from Student materia medica set

Drawer from Student materia medica set

Students studying materia medica would have needed to know how to recognise these plants, animals and minerals. They would need to be knowledgeable about the different properties of all these substances and know the different ways of preparing drugs, pastes, ointments and pills. Some of the samples included in this drawer are opium seed heads, turmeric rhizomes, betelnut, ipecac roots and myrrh resin.
