This grass skirt is made from the fibres of immature sago pinnae, coloured red with Bixa orellana, and black with mud. The string is from tulip inner bark Gnetum gnemon. It is one of three collected by Stefanie Klappa during her doctoral field research in Papua New Guinea, investigating human-environment interaction in Krisa Village.
