Kew holds 900 bark specimens of cinchona. Documentation with the specimens was captured during databasing in the early 1980s. However, during the course of the project, we found 95 uncatalogued specimens, and had to correct many errors and omissions for all database entries. The 485 specimen records relating to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) donation to Kew were checked against the RPS index cards, obviously not seen by the original databasing team, and extremely helpful; it proved possible to link nearly all cards to specimens. The 400 original Kew specimens were similarly checked against Museum Entry Books.
