- These fruits were collected on the H.M.S. Challenger Expedition. They are from the Massoy tree, which is found only in New Guinea and is cultivated for its aromatic bark used in traditional medicine. At this time the tree would have been known as Massoia aromatica. Fruits and bark from this plant appear several times in the New Guinea collection, acquired over a long period of time.
