This sieve was found in a cemetery at Hawara and is made from two types of plants. The twisted parts of the sieve wound round the hard stems are made from Cyperus papyrus . The hard stems are of Phoenix dactylifera . The sieve dates to the 1st century BC, in the Greco-Roman period.
