This painting provides an example
of a less common type of paper found in the Collections at Kew .
The image has been painted on delicate paper made from the pith
of a shrub, Tetrapanax papyrifer. It is one of many paintings collected in Tamsui, a port
in northern Formosa, now known as Taiwan.
