DALE CHIHULY - Exhibitions

 

Dale Chihuly has been granted a host of solo exhibitions ever since his first, at the University of Wisconsin in 1967. Since then he has held over 100 exhibitions in various locations around the world. Among the many museums in which his work has been exhibited are the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery, the Louvre's Musee des Arts Decoratifs, the National Gallery of Australia, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum - his only previous UK exhibition, held in 2001. By the early 1990s Chihuly had begun to mass glass elements together to create large-scale works, placing some outdoors. In 1995 he embarked on the two-year international project Chihuly Over Venice, which involved working in glass factories in Finland, Ireland and Mexico with the resultant sculptures installed over the canals and piazzas of Venice. In 1999, he mounted Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem, an ambitious exhibition of large-scale sculptures held in the Old City. In 2001, Chihuly presented his first major glasshouse exhibition at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago, which was followed by exhibitions at Atlanta Botanical Garden and Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus, Ohio. Solo exhibitions of Chihuly's work have been held in the following locations:

Europe : Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands.

 

Rest of the World: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Iceland, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan, United States of America.

DALE CHIHULY - Museum Collections

Dale Chihuly's work is included in over two hundred museum collections around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Palais du Louvre and the Corning Museum of Glass. Large Chihuly collections are held by the Tacoma Art Museum and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.
