Lecture: There’s more to Glass than meets the Eye – The
Science of Glass

In this fascinating lecture, Reader in Materials at Imperial College,
Dr Robert Hill, explores the scientific applications of glass. Part of
the lecture series to celebrate the Chihuly glass exhibition at Kew.
(Re-scheduled from 7 July, so tickets already purchased for then will
be valid.) The lecture will be held in the Jodrell Lecture Theatre at
Kew.
Glass Workshop
Wednesday 26 – Thursday 27 October
10.30am – 3.30pm

Venue: Kew and RACC, Twickenham
Come and be inspired by the genius and spectacular installations of
renowned artist, Dale Chihuly and create your own glass masterpieces
on our special two day art course. The first day will be spent touring
and learning about the glass sculptures currently on display within the
historic garden landscape at Kew, sketching and creating ideas for the
practical session on day two. This will take place in the dedicated glass
workshop at the Richmond
Adult and Community College in Twickenham where
you will practice a variety of colourful fusing techniques using specialist
glass to create your own unique piece to take home.
NB: Course fee does not include cost of glass used on the practical session.
Participants will need to make their own arrangements for travel to Twickenham.
