The AETFAT 2007 Congress

Yaoundé, Cameroon, 26 February - 2 March 2007

The 18th AETFAT congress in Yaoundé, Cameroon was attended by 335 paying participants from 50 different countries. Of the 335 participants, 165 came from Africa and 170 from other continents. During the AETFAT 2007 congress, 7 plenary sessions were held, 150 oral presentations were given and 179 posters were presented. These attendance figures are the highest ever recorded for an AETFAT Congress.

This is the first time that an AETFAT Congress has been held in West or Central Africa, and the first time in an African country where French is spoken.

These facts are a great credit to Cameroon, and particularly to the organizing institutes: the Ministre de la Recherche Scientifique et de l'Innovation (MINRESI), Ministre: Mme. Madeleine TCHUINTE; the Institut de Recherche Agricole pour le Développement (IRAD) Directeur Général Dr. Simon ZOK; and the Herbier National du Cameroun (IRAD-MINRESI), Head Dr. Jean-Michel ONANA. Dr. Gaston ACHOUNDONG, Secretary-General for AETFAT 2007 was the former head of the National Herbarium.
