Draft Management Plan

What is a Management Plan?

The preparation of a Management Plan is a key requirement of the nomination process for a World Heritage Site.

Through consultation with interested parties, partner organisations and the local community, a Management Plan establishes the strategy for conserving the outstanding universal value of a World Heritage Site and for meeting the needs of visitors and other users. It is not a statutory document, but an advisory framework for long-term decision making in a World Heritage Site.

The Management Plan for Kew seeks to provide an agreed vision and objectives for conserving Kew's rich architectural and landscape heritage, and for managing the site to improve visitor and scientific facilities.

To ensure that the Management Plan reflects the views of as many stakeholders as possible, a wide range of people, including special interest groups and local residents, were consulted on the draft plan.
