To celebrate the 200th anniversary
of the birth of Charles Darwin RBG Kew are conducting an ambitious project,
funded and supported by The Wellcome Trust to engage every primary school
in the UK. Every
child will have an opportunity to experience delightful and memorable
activities that will reveal to them the beauty, variety and adaptability
of the plants in their environment. As a result they will understand
that not all individuals are the same, and that this helps species to
thrive in a variety of habitats - a key idea that underpins Darwin's
Theory of Evolution.
We are seeking to recruit this post to be responsible for the delivery
of this exciting and ground breaking project. As editorial project
manager you will be working within the newly formed Content and Learning
Department at RBG Kew, and will report to the Director of Content and
Learning on a day to day basis, and be answerable to the project steering
group. The steering group will be formed from key stakeholders
from RBG Kew and Wellcome, as well as senior suppliers within the project. This
project offers a great opportunity to lead a flagship project that can
influence every child in the UK and help them to understand better how
to care for our planet. An experienced project manager is needed to oversee
all aspects and specification of the entire project using planning,
monitoring and controlling processes. You
will also be responsible for co-ordination and successful delivery
of the project within set timescales and budget. You will perform a variety
of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, managing
the project finances and summarising progress of the project to the
steering group.
ESSENTIALS
- You will be an experienced project manager, with a proven track
record of delivering complex, large-scale multiple platform projects
preferably for the primary schools market, with superb communication
skills and extensive experience of editorial management of a large
multiple media project. Strong leadership and influencing skills
are vital for this role as is the ability to think both strategically
and operationally. Understanding of web technologies, online accessibility
and print and production processes are also necessary for this role.
Salary is in the range £40,187 to £50,105 per annum pro
rata (subject to skills and experience) and benefits include 25 days
holiday per year and a choice of defined benefit or stakeholder pension
as well as a great work environment.
